What is to be said? And by whom? In this case the speaker is both subject and object; and the artwork, as object, becomes a special kind of subject.

What is to be said? is a forum that intends to trip the critic up, to collapse the distance between object and subject. Criticality becomes an artistic methodology, closing the gap between theory and practice. Inquiry becomes attitude, an essence that finds its expression in a series of screenings, talks and seminars, as well as a journal. The project will run for one year, taking the exhibitions at Hollybush Gardens as its point of departure, extending into associated events that offer situations for reflection.
